Spiritual Truth #1:
“My Strength Comes from God”
Military Mindset is to "Be Strong”
As Military Wives we don’t like the thought of feeling weak. It is very easy to get caught up in the military mindset : “Let us be strong, too” The strength we see in ourselves is usually a reflection of either how much we’re allowing God to lead in our lives or how much we’re allowing ourselves to get in the way of letting God lead in our lives.
Opening Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, It is with grateful hearts that we lift up our requests to you this day. We pray that you will use the power of your word and the truth of your grace to draw us closer to you. May we grow ever stronger in our faith, as You remind us that our strength comes from You.

In Jesus name we pray. Amen
Getting in God’s Way!
Letting God In!
When we put ourselves in the way, we miss experiencing God's Full Strength.
There is an internal assurance that you are "Never Alone" as you:
- Focus on God
- Pray
- Read and study the Bible
Feeling are fickle, but our faith is steady, smooth, and never weavers.
Big Lie:
God is there, if I need him, but I think I am handling things pretty well, MYSELF
When we accept “The Big Lie”: that we can do life in our own strength, by our plan, and in our own power; we give up “The Big Truth.”
Big Truth:
"Strength comes straight from God” Psalm 62:11
"Strength comes straight from God” Psalm 62:11
Our only responsibility is to follow God’s leading:
- Word of God is our compass
- Prayer will do all the heavy lifting
- Faith and Trust will build our constant best Friend
Surrender
Go in the strength that you have. Am I not sending you? Judges 6:13
God has placed you where you are.

If we grasp and cling to life on our terms, we'll lose it, but if we let our life go, we'll get life on God's terms. (Luke 17:33)
ReplyDeleteGod has taught me through the many times we have moved that even though I don't know the hows, whys, and wherefores of what God has in mind, and things look pretty scary, but I know He has a plan. I may not know what that plan is, but I don't have to. When God told Abraham to pick up his family and go "to a place I will show you," Abraham didn't know where or why or any of that, but he trusted God to show him what's next. God has a plan, but He doesn't expect us to carry out that plan, He just wants us to be the instrument of action. He just wants us to give ourselves to Him as a tool He can pick up and use. (check out Exodus 4:11-12)

God has taught me that I don't have to know what his plan is or how to carry it out because He is the one who is going to carry it out. He only wants us to make ourselves an available to that He can use to carry out His plan.
ReplyDeleteI liked the opening thing she said in this chapter. "One of the hardest parts of the military life is the deployment. Being separated from our spouse can be emotionally grueling, depressingly solitary, and overwhelming. If you let it be that way." I like the if you let it be part. God can give us such strength, and sometimes it is easy to forget it. I loved the way she showed the difference between our strength and God strength. We have to remind ourselves. "I can do all things through Christ who strengths me.'
ReplyDeleteI am pretty far behind guys, sorry! But I did want to post something on this chapter. I could relate to so many of the things that she said. I have a hard time with relying on God sometimes. I will always fail (and I always have!) when I look at life this way. I'm so glad that God can be my strength and I don't have to rely on myself.
ReplyDeleteSometimes, I stop relying on Him without even thinking about it. This chapter helped me to remember to stop, and think about whether or not I'm relying on Him, or myself.
